Hope Alive Uganda is a non-governmental organization formed by the community in 2005.  It was officially registered as a CBO in 2008.  Hope Alive Uganda has started the process of registering as NGO.

Hope Alive Uganda (HAU) has been working in Kisozi for the last two years and has recently started to work in Jinja as well.

Hope Alive Uganda runs most of its projects in Kisozi: a goats project, chicken project, cycling-to-school project, vegetable project and an HIV/AIDS program.  However, Hope Alive Uganda has recently started to work in Jinja as well and is supporting women in Jinja through a crafts project.

Hope Alive Uganda aims to empower women and the youths in the community by setting up income generating activities.  Also, Hope Alive Uganda runs an HIV/AIDS training program to create awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS in the community.  Furthermore, Hope Alive Uganda wishes to support children by giving them the chance to get an education and by trying to contribute to improving their poor circumstances and health.

Hope Alive Uganda is able to carry out its projects in Uganda through fundraising acitvities by Hope Alive Uganda in the Netherlands.

Goals:

  • The construction of Hope Alive study centre
  • Setting up an HIV/AIDS information centre, structural training program for youths in primary and secondary schools and setting up counseling groups for men and women with AIDS
  • Building a borehole to provide safe (drinking) water for the community
  • Setting up a sponsorship program for tuition, scholastic materials, school uniforms etc.
  • Establishing projects and activities the generate income (tailoring program for women, catering project, vocational trainings, chicken project, crafts project)
