Hope Alive Uganda's Cattle and Agriculture project is an income generating project for boys aged 16 to 20. Boys are offered a training program by professionals. Breeding cows, selling milk, contacts with wholesalers, manuring land, growing and selling vegetables, improving social skills are all aspects of this project which is aimed at empowering boys balancing on the edge of crime due to lack of education, unemployment and chances. Hope Alive Uganda has started initiating this project in January 2011 by starting the search for suitable breeds and discussing in length with a professional vet and an expert in the field, Patrick Mugaya, how to set up good structures, paddocks and which vegetables and fruit are suitable to grow alongside the rearing of cattle. At present, July 2011, Hope Alive Uganda is fencing the 7 acres of land and is orientating on building the house for the boys particpating in this project.
