Hope Alive Uganda started a tailoring project in April/May 2010 to empower the women. Women were trained to use sewing machines the first months and a small business was started with them. The women mainly make school uniforms, but now make other products too such as women's clothes, reusable pads, sheets, blankets curtains etc. and they will repair clothes. By having the women make school uniforms, the women help Hope Alive Uganda as an organization as well. The women working in this projects have established contacts with the schools in Kisozi and immediate surroundings and often go out to the schools to sell their uniforms. This project has now entered a new phase: learning to keep the business running. This is quite a challenge for the group in this rural area. Hope Alive Uganda supports the group concerning ways to promote themselves and getting new tenders.
