Alice Mukyala is one of the beneficiaries of the vegetable project.   Alice lives with her grandmother and three sisters in Bukyatifu. Alice goes to a girl’s college in Nawanyago and is determined “to become a powerful lady in this world” as she puts it herself.   She is part of a drama group and a terrific dancer. In 2010, Hope Alive Uganda was able to hand out vegetable seeds to more than 50 children and construct vegetable gardens with these children, to improve health conditions of the children and create better chances for generating income through their vegetable gardens. Alice is one of the beneficiaries who received amongst others seeds for soya beans and eggplant in 2010. She and her grandmother and sisters maintain their vegetable garden well and despite low prices for their crops in 2010, they were able to gain some extra money which helped them to buy new seeds and plant new vegetables, amongst others maize.
