Joy Mwesito lives with her 6 children and husband in a small house in Bukyatifu. The small house has only one room, but the whole family sleeps in that room. The toilet used to be a little further down the path near their house. It was not a toilet...it was not a latrine...it was actually just a hole in the ground... Thanks to their sponsor in the Netherlands, Hope Alive Uganda built a new latrine and bathroom for the family. Joy Mwesito and her family have been given support by Hope Alive Uganda: the kids were given some clothes and shoes, though much more than this is actually needed in this family. A few of the children received a mattrass and blankets and sheets, to ease their comfort. Daily needs are lacking in this family. Hope Alive Uganda has tried to help Joy and her children by having one of her cildren participate in the vegetables project and having another child participate in the goats project. Behind their house is a small piece of land which the family cleared at the time the vegetable project was about to start. Now, the family is growing soya beans, peppers and cabbage on that small piece of land. Sometime later, one of the children received a female goat in the goats project for orphans. Hopefully, this goat will soon produce offspring which can be sold later so that the family can provide themselves with basic needs and perhaps even pay some of the children's school fees. Many smiling faces in this family, yet more help is actually needed, for example help to fix their poor house...
