About HAU Netherlands
HAU Netherlands carries out fundraising activities

In the Netherlands, Hope Alive Uganda was officially registered as an organization on October 21st 2009.   However, before the official registration in the Netherlands, HAU Uganda and HAU Netherlands were working together closely.

Esther inspecting a chicken at HAUHope Alive Uganda runs its fundraising activities in the Netherlands and also, a market for Hope Alive Uganda's crafts project is created in the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, Hope Alive Uganda is supported by the 1 % club.  Thanks to the 1 % club and their donating members, Hope Alive Uganda is able to run a goats project, chicken project and vegetable project to support the children registered with Hope Alive Uganda.  In November 2009, Hope Alive Uganda gave 24 children registered with Hope Alive Uganda, a goat.  A total of 38 children registered with Hope Alive Uganda have now received a goat in this way.  Some more children will receive goats in September 2010.  The chicken project serves as an income generating project for local families and Hope Alive Uganda and Hope Alive Uganda hopes to contribute to improving the orphans' health by giving 50 orphans the opportunity to grow vegetables in their vegetable gardens.

Hope Alive Uganda is also supported by Eyeclarify in the Netherlands.  Eyeclarify has provided Hope Alive Uganda with free glasses in order to support the less advantaged people in the community that can't afford a pair of glasses.  Two eyecamps were organized, one in Kisozi and one in Wakitaka, Jinja, where people's eyes were checked by doctors and people were offered a free pair of glasses.

Thanks to a Dutch supermarket, that supports Hope Alive Uganda through the deposits on returnable bottles, Hope Alive Uganda was able to provide beds, mosquito nets, blankets, sheets and mattresses to 14 children that didn't have beds and were sleeping on the ground.  This method of saving funds still exists, though in 2010 - 2011 it will serve the purpose of expanding the tailoring project.

Hope Alive Uganda is supported by GGNET and Impulsis to build a borehole for the people in the community.  In October 2009, Hope Alive Uganda ran a water campaign thanks to the support by GGNET and was able to inform the community about safe drinking water, hygiene, hygienic use of latrines and the building of the borehole itself.  Soon, a water comittee will be established which will be in charge of maintaining the borehole and keeping in touch with the community making use of the borehole.

Apart from that, Hope Alive Uganda started a cooperation between Hope Alive Uganda and Cycling out of poverty to set up a cycling-to-school-project which started in April 2010.  The ability to buy bikes on credit, a training program and a repair shop are part of this project.

And what's more Share4more and Eureko Achmea have enabled Hope Alive Uganda to start a tailoring business, which started in April 2010 as well.

The crafts project keeps growing: Hope Alive Uganda has created a market in the Netherlands and is trying to expand that market even more.

HAU Netherlands not only carries out fundraising activities, but also aims at establishing cooperations with other organizations in the Netherlands in order to provide the help needed for the children registered with Hope Alive Uganda and the community.
