In 2011 – 2012, a maternity ward was set up and work has been in full swing ever since. Women in Kisozi and surrounding villages receive antenatal care, assistance during birth giving and maternal care from midwives Fatuma Babirye and Annet Onyango at the maternity ward of E & E medical center.     Despite proper materials still lacking at the maternity ward, such as a proper delivery bed, some good beds and other equipment needed by the midwives, the set-up of the maternity ward is a great step forward for women who couldn’t receive antenatal care or assistance before and in case of complications had to travel far to the bigger hospitals in either Kamuli or Jinja.   During 2011 – 2012, Net4kids is a great support in equipping the maternity ward with proper materials and setting up a training program for women.   Since 2011, the maternity ward receives great support from Stichting Babyhope in the Netherlands that provides the maternity ward with materials for mama kits, such as umbilical clamps, baby clothes, aprons and gloves for the midwives, pads, gauzes and mattresses.   Through fundraising, Hope Alive Uganda is able to ship these materials to Uganda.   Hope Alive Uganda encourages people in the Netherlands to contact Stichting Babyhope in the Netherlands to donate their unused materials from their mama kits to Stichting Babyhope as it helps projects around the world providing materials for maternal care to women.   Thanks to Stichting Babyhope, midwife Fatuma Babirye received a tool kit early 2012.
