Help a Hand
Sponsoring an Orphaned Child

Hope Alive Uganda runs a sponsorship program to support orphans and needy children.  Its mission is to provide the orphans and needy children with funds to pay their schoolfees, schooluniforms, schoolmaterials, clothes, shoes and their daily and medical needs.

Can you spare a euro a day?

The cost to sponsor a child is about a euro a day: 20 euros each month or 240 euros a year.
All funds will be directly spent on the children!

Tracking the progress of the child that I sponsor

You will be updated about the child's progress through:

  • photos
  • letters and drawings from the children
  • copies of school reports
  • news updates
  • receipts of purchases made to support the children

There are three terms in a year in Uganda.  You will receive a copy of the child's school report at the end of each term.   Photos, letters, drawings, receipts and news updates will also be sent each term.

Sending gift to the child I sponsor

Gifts may be sent!!  Clearly mark the name of the child you sponsor on the package.

Communicating with the child I sponsor

We encourage you to communicate with your child.  You can send letters or send an email to the project which will then be distributed to the children.   You can tell the children about your family, job, school, hobbies or interests, but don't make promises you cannot keep!  We encourage you t communicate with your child as it will make the child feel appreciated and loved and creates a bond with the child.

Start sponsoring a child

Select a child or children whom you would like to sponsor.  Contact Hope Alive Uganda about your choice.  Hope Alive Uganda will then get in touch with you about ways to donate the funds for the child or children you wish to sponsor and about when your sponsorship starts.

Muyodhi is in primary 4, at St.Joseph primary school. He, like some lost both parents to AIDS when he was still a young boy. Muyodhi grew up his grandfather Joseph. He would like to continue with his studies but he has little hope due to school fees problem that is making him so irrigular at school. Muyodhi is therefore waiting for your sponsorship to enable him continue with his studies and become an engineer.

Fiona who is 13 years old was born in Kisozi, Buzaya. She is in primary 6 in Isiimba Primary school. She lost both parents to AIDS when she was still young. "AIDS is a very dangerous disease and has no cure, it kills the poor and the rich, most especially the youth." she says. "I could advice orphans to join Hope Alive to help them realize their dreams and potentials", she added.

Nangobi Stella, 12 years in primary 5 was born in a small village called Bukyatifu. Her mother died when she was 9 years and she is now living with her grandmother. Stella hopes to study and become a nurse but she is worried she won't achieve that without your support for education. She is therefore waiting for your helping hand to help her reach that goal.
